AWS Backend Developer

We are currently seeking a  AWS Backend Developer  to join our dynamic team and work with one of  our client, a leading bank in Canada

Contract duration:  6 months with strong possibility of extension

Role type:
Hybrid ( 2 days a week in office  required - Toronto Downtown)

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and REST APIs using  Type Script and Node.js .

Develop, deploy, and manage  serverless applications using AWS Lambda .

Build secure, scalable, highly available, and production-ready backend services on  AWS .

Design and implement event-driven and cloud-native solutions using  AWS SQS, SNS, Event Bridge, API Gateway , and related services.

Develop clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code following modern software engineering practices.

Integrate backend services with databases, external APIs, and other AWS services.

Implement robust logging, monitoring, error handling, alerting, and automated testing.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards, architecture decisions, and development best practices.

Collaborate closely with frontend developers, Dev Ops engineers, architects, and product teams.

Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while continuously improving system performance, scalability, reliability, and security.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of backend software development experience with Type Script — mandatory.

Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and the Node.js ecosystem — mandatory.

Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services — mandatory.

Strong experience with AWS Lambda and serverless application development — mandatory.

Proven experience designing and developing  RESTful APIs and backend services .

Strong understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, scalability, and cloud-native application development.

Experience working with databases such as  DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL , or similar technologies.

Strong understanding of  AWS IAM, authentication, authorization, and API security .

Experience with Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.

Strong understanding of clean code, SOLID principles, software engineering best practices, and code quality.

Experience building and supporting  production-grade applications in AWS environments .

Nice to Have

Experience designing and implementing  microservices and event-driven architectures .

Experience with  Docker and containerized applications .

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.

Experience working in  banking, financial services, or fintech  environments.
