The Person al Trainer provides one-on-one specialized training in the form of personal training. This position may also provide program coverage when required in all areas of Individual Conditioning (Fitness Assessment, Small Group Program delivery, Individual Program Design, Free Weight and Conditioning Room Orientations, etc.) and assists in all Health and Fitness program areas ensuring that all members have a positive experience in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment.
In this role, you will:
Deliver Personal Training sessions in small group and one-on-one format in a manner that is consistent with YMCA standards, mission, values, goals and practices, including Priority Sam StandardsEnsure appropriate policies and procedures are implemented and monitored to ensure safe and effective member and volunteer participation.Prepare and set up program equipment/rooms and cleans and tidies up equipment/rooms after use, reporting any repairs to supervisor.Organize and administer a case management approach in managing relationships with participants and ensures they are comfortable and successful in the program to assist them to achieve their personal health goals.Utilize systems and technologies available in the YMCA to deliver Personal Training and track required informationProvide reports and additional information to supervisor when requestedTrack client attendanceManage client and potential client communication in a timely and professional manner, adhering to best practices as determined by YMCA policies and proceduresBuild relationships with members and seeks opportunities to share the YMCA story and educates members and guests on the YMCA as a Charity.Ensure qualifications and certifications as required by the YMCA and regulatory standards are current at all times.be available for the minimum required commitment of hours as determined by the supervisor based on centre needs.Actively participates in scheduled training, meetings and special events.In collaboration with individual program members, program volunteers and YMCA program staff, assist and encourage program members to access additional appropriate programs offered at this location.Performs other related duties to fulfill commitment to quality programs for all members as assigned from time to time by supervisor.You bring:
Certified Personal Trainer and/or YMCA Personal Training Certification (or equivalent)Diploma in Health Education or equivalent an assetPrevious experience in developing individual fitness programs and coaching individuals to achieve resultsCertified Fitness Consultant (CFC) an assetCurrent Standard First Aid/CPR requiredAbility to instruct various group fitness classes an assetSales and/or customer service experience, preferably in a membership/client based environment an assetWell developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteersCommitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belongingAbility to encourage and motivate members, and volunteers, acknowledge and appreciate achievements and contributionsFlexibility regarding work schedules, including days, evenings and weekendsWhat you need to succeed:
