Ocean Import Coordinator | Toronto, Ontario | Salary: up to $65,000

The Ocean Import Coordinator is responsible for managing end-to-end ocean import shipments from booking through final delivery. This role requires strong communication skills, knowledge of international shipping documentation, and the ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment while ensuring compliance with Canadian regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage FCL and LCL ocean import shipments from origin to final delivery
  • Communicate with overseas agents, steamship lines, carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies
  • Prepare and review shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, Arrival Notices, invoices, and manifests
  • Track shipments and proactively update customers on status, delays, or issues
  • Ensure timely submission of documentation to customs brokers for clearance
  • Arrange inland transportation and final delivery
  • Verify and process vendor invoices and ensure accurate customer billing
  • Maintain accurate shipment records in the company’s freight forwarding system
  • Resolve shipment discrepancies, delays, and service issues professionally and efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian customs regulations and company SOPs
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 2–5 years of experience in ocean import freight forwarding
  • Strong knowledge of ocean freight documentation and procedures
  • Familiarity with Canadian customs processes (CBSA requirements)
  • Experience working with FCL and LCL shipments
  • Proficiency in freight forwarding software (e.g., Cargo Wise, Descartes, or similar)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
