Logistics Coordinator
The Logistics Coordinator's primary role is to handle all day-to-day operational elements of our customer's needs. Seeks out the best methods to move freight based on customer requirements. Requires flexibility and adaptability to work extended hours to meet work demands, with the ability to organize and prioritize activities with a high degree of independence, accuracy, and efficiency.
Performs all necessary Import, Export, and Domestic Transportation activities. Ensures timely and accurate movement of freight and information while providing exceptional customer service. Anticipates, identifies, and rectifies exceptions while keeping internal stakeholders informed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Analyze booking information to determine service requirements, verify routes, border crossing points, and rates, and enter information into the system
- Coordinate the flow of inbound and outbound freight while managing daily priorities and weekly transportation targets
- Respond effectively to internal stakeholder inquiries and resolve conflicts or issues as they arise
- Maintain account correspondence and ensure appropriate electronic copies are uploaded with milestones
- Prepare and present quotes for internal and external clients; maintain quotes in system
- Contact carriers to confirm equipment, expectations, and load details
- Dispatch shipments and communicate with carriers to monitor freight movement
- Update milestones in a real-time setting
- Optimize profit margins without compromising service levels
- Monitor carrier responsiveness and escalates issues as needed
- Update the transportation management system and customer portals with real-time load locations
- Proactively identify problems and develop creative, efficient solutions
- Prioritize loads based on importance and delivery date
- Build strong relationships with assigned carriers through ongoing communication and performance monitoring
- Complete carrier performance reports and notify relevant parties of potential issues
- Negotiate additional charges with carriers and maintain accuracy of carrier information
- Stay current on industry market conditions and communicate any carrier issues impacting operation
- Maintain confidentiality of client information and integrity of shared work file
- Minimum 1–2 years in transportation, logistics, or distribution
- College Diploma or University Degree in Business, Logistics, or International Trade (preferred)
- CIFFA certificate (asset)
- Dangerous Goods Certification (asset)
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Service-oriented with the ability to resolve customer issues
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
- Proficiency in both English and French
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with transportation management software (e.g., Load Link, PC Miler) is an asset
