This is an exciting time to join the TTC’s Service Planning and Scheduling team. We are currently hiring three Transit Planners and are seeking talented individuals who are passionate about shaping transit service for our customers.
What You Will Do  Reporting to the Senior Planner, Transit Service, the Transit Planner is responsible for the planning, design, and analysis of transit services to deliver the best possible customer experience within the TTC’s available budget, Service Standards, established policy framework, and operational considerations. This role involves assessing service needs, developing and evaluating service proposals, curating internal and customer-facing infographics, and conducting statistical, operational, and economic analyses to support decision‑making.

The Transit Planner also monitors and evaluates existing transit services to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiencies to ensure services continue to meet customer and organizational objectives.
In this role, you will:
Lead the planning, development, and coordination of transit service changes for day‑to‑day transit operations, transit network optimization, transit expansion projects, and construction related service adjustments. This involves the application of various internal guidelines and/or processes including the TTC’s Service Standards, Board Period and/or Annual Network Plan process.
Collaborate with scheduling staff, operational teams, and other TTC departments to evaluate service‑related opportunities and challenges, conduct analyses, and develop proposals for new, expanded, enhanced and/or optimized transit services that improve the customer experience and optimize the transit network.
Analyze ridership data, schedules, service performance metrics, and other relevant information to identify priorities and develop recommendations for service enhancements, adjustments, or reductions across the transit network.
Forecast and monitor resource requirements associated with service changes, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and operational objectives.
Identify means of controlling or reducing operating expenses in response to changing budgetary situations.
Develop, review and verify the accuracy of transit information, maps, communications, and signage prepared for customers and internal stakeholders.
Prepare briefing notes, presentations, reports, and recommendations on a broad range of service planning initiatives, studies, and issues and respond to requests from other TTC departments for planning‑related information.
Represent the TTC at public meetings, consultations, and community engagement sessions to discuss existing transit services, proposed changes, and future service initiatives.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal TTC partners, municipal and government partners, community groups, and external agencies to support service planning projects and initiatives.
