Manager, Transportation Operations
This is an on-site role
The Manager, Transportation Operations, is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the organization's inbound and outbound transportation. This role leads the development and implementation of transportation strategies, drives process improvements, and manages a team that is critical in ensuring delivery of efficient and cost-effective transportation solutions while maintaining high service levels in support of the organization's supply chain and wholesale operations.

AboutThe Role
Inbound and Outbound Operations Oversight – 40%
- Oversee daily inbound and outbound transportation operations, ensuring timely and efficient movement of goods
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize transportation routes, modes, and carriers
- Manage relationships with carriers, negotiating contracts and service level agreements
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align transportation operations with overall supply chain goals
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and safety standard

- Develop and implement mid and long-term transportation strategies aligned with the organization's Future State Modernization (FSM) program
- Identify and implement process improvements by analyzing freight patterns and identifying opportunities for enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving service levels
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and systems to support transportation operations
- Conduct regular audits of transportation processes and implement corrective actions as needed
- Manage and maintain standardized processes, SOPs, reports, and digital tools (e.g., SharePoint, department drives) to support operational needs.
- Participate in RFP development, contract onboarding, and vendor performance evaluations.

- Manage, coach, and develop a team of 10 Operations Analysts, Transportation
- Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team
- Collaborate with HR to recruit, train, and retain top talent in transportation operations
- Ensure team members are up-to-date with industry trends and best practices

- Prepare and present operational reports, performance dashboards, and ad hoc analyses on transportation performance to senior leadership
- Manage transportation-related projects, including budget planning and resource allocation
- Participate in cross-functional projects related to supply chain and wholesale operations
- Develop and maintain transportation policies and procedures
- Manage the transportation budget, including cost analysis and forecasting
- Experience with SAP, routing systems, and transportation software
- 10+ years of experience in transportation management or logistics
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership role managing teams
- Experience in alcohol distribution or related industry
- Knowledge of freight payment and claims processes
- Professional Logistics (P.Log), CITT, PMP designation, CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) is an asset
