About the Role
Inbound and Outbound Operations Oversight – 40%
Oversee daily inbound and outbound transportation operations, ensuring timely and efficient movement of goodsDevelop and implement strategies to optimize transportation routes, modes, and carriersManage relationships with carriers, negotiating contracts and service level agreementsMonitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvementCollaborate with cross-functional teams to align transportation operations with overall supply chain goalsEnsure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and safety standardTransportation Strategy and Process Improvement – 25%
Develop and implement mid and long-term transportation strategies aligned with the organization's Future State Modernization (FSM) programIdentify and implement process improvements by analyzing freight patterns and identifying opportunities for enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving service levelsLead continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and Six Sigma methodologiesEvaluate and implement new technologies and systems to support transportation operationsConduct regular audits of transportation processes and implement corrective actions as neededManage and maintain standardized processes, SOPs, reports, and digital tools (e.g., SharePoint, department drives) to support operational needs.Participate in RFP development, contract onboarding, and vendor performance evaluations.Team Leadership and Development – 20%
Develop and implement mid and long-term transportation strategies aligned with the organization's Future State Modernization (FSM) programIdentify and implement process improvements by analyzing freight patterns and identifying opportunities for enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving service levelsLead continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and Six Sigma methodologiesEvaluate and implement new technologies and systems to support transportation operationsConduct regular audits of transportation processes and implement corrective actions as neededManage and maintain standardized processes, SOPs, reports, and digital tools (e.g., SharePoint, department drives) to support operational needs.Participate in RFP development, contract onboarding, and vendor performance evaluations.Manage, coach, and develop a team of 10 Operations Analysts, TransportationSet clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviewsFoster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the teamCollaborate with HR to recruit, train, and retain top talent in transportation operationsEnsure team members are up-to-date with industry trends and best practicesReporting, Projects, and Administrative Duties – 15%
Prepare and present operational reports, performance dashboards, and ad hoc analyses on transportation performance to senior leadershipManage transportation-related projects, including budget planning and resource allocationParticipate in cross-functional projects related to supply chain and wholesale operationsDevelop and maintain transportation policies and proceduresManage the transportation budget, including cost analysis and forecastingAbout You
Experience with SAP, routing systems, and transportation software10+ years of experience in transportation management or logistics5+ years of experience in a leadership role managing teamsExperience in alcohol distribution or related industryKnowledge of freight payment and claims processesProfessional Logistics (P.Log), CITT, PMP designation, CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) is an assetWe offer a comprehensive suite of benefits including:
