The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing the daily fleet plan in a real-time environment, within the SOC operational framework. Synchronize the fleet deployment plan, taking into account maintenance, operational restrictions, and commerce and customer service priorities. The Aircraft Router is expected to be the SOC go-to person for operational issues related to aircraft deployment outside of flight day. He/she must ensure coordination of the flow of information between the SOC planning unit and Maintenance Planning, Maintenance Activity Control, airports and other affected departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and monitor daily fleet assignments to ensure compliance with the published flight schedule and support planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Ensure that fleet deployment plans take into account all scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Ensure aircraft routings comply with the maintenance intervention schedule. Monitor changes made to the maintenance intervention schedule of airframes taking into account the requirements of the Gantt chart relating to overhaul and heavy maintenance work.
  • Assign tail numbers to tracks in Net Line OPS and ensure that each aircraft is capable of performing the route.
  • Monitor return-to-service estimates, then make necessary schedule changes and communicate them, as applicable.
  • Ensure aircraft-related restrictions are monitored, communicated and integrated into the fleet plan.
  • Select and reserve replacement aircraft to support ongoing operations and correct operational irregularities.
  • Provide ongoing support for routing aircraft with chronic issues to ensure known issues are addressed and corrected promptly.
  • Work closely with the SOC planning unit to prepare for and manage operational irregularities.
  • Monitor visits by third-party maintenance, repair and overhaul service providers, as well as positioning flights, to ensure compliance with the Maintenance Program and Air Operations Program.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Planning to ensure the overnight maintenance plan is realistic and operational risks are identified and communicated.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Air Operations Program to resolve issues affecting the fleet that could impact punctuality or schedule adherence.
  • Participate in daily maintenance activity conference calls and various other conference calls as the SOC representative.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Basic working knowledge of Air Canada's fleet.
  • Ease in making decisions in a subjective environment.
  • Strong initiative and leadership.
  • Problem-solving aptitude.
  • Proven ability to maintain a positive attitude under pressure and when managing fluctuating or conflicting priorities.
  • Availability to work a variable schedule, including 24-hour coverage, or to work weekends and holidays.
  • Practical knowledge of airport operations and maintenance activities, an asset
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including NL Ops, TRAX, Communicator, and other schedule planning tools, or willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability to support the team's overall success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible in-person schedule, including 24-hour coverage, weekends and holidays.

Conditions of Employment:
