Advanced nurse practioner
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) / Emergency Care Practitioner (EP) will act autonomously within their professional scope of practice providing care for patients face to face, telephone consultations and home visits.
The postholder will operate within their own sphere of competence and agreed acceptable limits of practice to provide expert professional clinical advice to patients, carers and colleagues, ensuring clinical safety and excellence.
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will need to prioritise and triage the needs of patients accordingly, making any necessary referrals for investigations in the appropriate manner.
The postholder will use skills, knowledge and competencies as a qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner in order to be responsible and accountable for managing patient caseloads for treatments, referral, admission and discharging patients as appropriate.
Main duties of the job- Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
- Provide advanced clinical nursing, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and referral.
- Deliver care in line with NICE/NSF guidance and evidence-based practice.
- Triage, manage acute and chronic conditions, and develop appropriate care plans.
- Prescribe and review medication within guidelines and scope of practice.
- Request and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g. bloods, X-rays, scans).
- Provide care in practice or home settings, including minor illness management.
- Ensure timely care delivery and accurate clinical record‑keeping in line with NMC standards.
- Support continuity of care (e.g. chronic disease, end‑of‑life care).
- Follow safeguarding procedures and make appropriate referrals across services.
The Rame Group Practice is an innovative, forward‑thinking, friendly, welcoming and supportive practice, based in a modern, purpose‑built health centre in Torpoint with a branch surgery on the Rame Peninsula.
Our organisation is led by a team of 8 dedicated GP Partners, a Business Partner and supported by a multidisciplinary team that includes salaried GPs, Advanced Nurse and Emergency Care Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, and a General Practice Assistant. We are also supported by a pharmacy team comprising Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians and a physiotherapy team, all serving 12,000 patients.
The clinical team is underpinned by a highly skilled and efficient administrative team that ensures the seamless operation of the practice. Together, our multidisciplinary team is committed to providing outstanding care and continually improving health outcomes for the communities we serve.
We have a thriving and growing dermatology service as well as a busy award‑winning clinical trials team which is also expanding. We are a training practice and have GP registrars working with us, as well as a number of medical students on a rotational basis.

- Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver safe and high‑quality care.
- Carries out clinical nursing practice at an advanced level using expert clinical skills, critical judgement and knowledge to deliver appropriate and safe care.
- Triage and treat patients, performing specialist assessment of their needs and making referrals as necessary to other members of the primary and secondary health care teams.
