This role is a 12‑month training programme to develop a GP with Extended Role in gastroenterology, focusing on iron deficiency anaemia. Previous experience in gastroenterology is not required.

• Attend one outpatient clinic session per week, working alongside a gastroenterologist to consult patients with general gastrointestinal presentations in a supervised environment.
• Complete on‑the‑job training and educational programme, including a monthly education session and guided independent study.
• Participate in the development of IDA clinics, initially shadowing an experienced gastroenterologist and progressing to run and manage clinics.
• Provide expert clinical opinion on a range of acute and elective problems, supporting inpatient and outpatient care.
• Contribute to a community of GPwERs across primary and secondary care, sharing experiences, training resources, and innovation.

• Registered General Practitioner with a valid UK license.
• Desire to develop a specialist interest in gastroenterology, particularly iron deficiency anaemia.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

• Training and development support within a well‑invested gastroenterology department (new £4.99m Endoscopy unit).
