We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic specialty doctor in oncology to join our team at Torbay.
The successful applicant will be joining a team of 13 consultants, 1 specialist doctor and 2 specialty doctors; the team is also supported by registrars on rotation.

Dr Louise Medley, Dr Nicole Dorey, Dr Jonathan Chambers, Dr Naomi Cole, Dr Geoff Cogill, Dr Claire Dyke, Dr Victoria Cope, Dr Andy Goodman, Dr Anna Lydon, Dr Nangi Lo, Dr Tim Norris, Dr Kelly Rust and Dr Helen Saxby.
We are seeking an individual to join our team at Torbay as a substantive speciality doctor.

Torbay and South Devon's operational delivery model starts with all teams being aligned to Care Groups, comprising Planned Care, Medical and Urgent Care, Families and Communities, Children's Family Health Devon and Non-Clinical. Within these Care Groups are sub‑divisions which represent all our services.
Our department, Non‑Surgical Cancer Services, reports to the Cancer and Clinical Support Services Division and the wider Planned Care, Care Group.
Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is one of four hospitals providing non-surgical cancer treatment within Devon and Cornwall (Royal Devon University Healthcare Foundation Trust, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Foundation Trust, Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.) Systemic Anti‑Cancer treatment and Radiotherapy is administered in all these sites.
Job responsibilities- The oncology speciality doctor role is integral to the provision of safe and timely care to cancer patients; the speciality doctor will be expected to run outpatient clinics alongside a site-specific consultant whilst also supporting the Turner Ward inpatient setting and in the nurse-led chemotherapy day unit.
- The post-holder is required to actively participate in the supervision of training of the junior doctor staff and to assist with the rota. The speciality doctor is vital to the continued success of the nurse-led telephone triage service which has resulted in increasing numbers of patients presenting to the day unit for urgent oncological review, thus reducing admission via the emergency department.
- You are expected to be involved in delivering teaching and training of others, developing an innovative and robust Acute Oncology Service and leading an MDT.

- Full registration and Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council
- Shall have completed at least four years full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant speciality or as a fixed-term specialty trainee in a relevant speciality.
- Shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
- FRCR part 1
- Oncology-related experience
- Experience in managing patients receiving SACT
- Experience in managing patients receiving Radiotherapy
- Experience in clinical trials
- Ability to organise a practice in an efficient manner with due attention to timeliness and dealing with administration and enquiries
- Governance experience
- Support junior medical staff
- Experience of audit
- Experience of research and ability to apply research outcomes to clinical practice
- Publication in peer reviewed journals
- Teaching qualification
