SEND Teaching Assistant (Wellbeing Mentor) – Full-time, temporary to permanent from September 2026

The inspection report describes a nurturing and structured learning environment where pupils feel safe, understood, and well supported. Staff build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and use consistent approaches to support behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning. Leadership demonstrates a clear commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and continual improvement, ensuring pupils’ well‑being and personal development are central to daily practice.

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant (Wellbeing Mentor)
  • Provide targeted wellbeing and emotional support to pupils with SEND
  • Support pupils to regulate emotions and manage behaviour positively
  • Work one‑to‑one and in small groups to promote resilience and self‑confidence
  • Support pupils’ engagement with learning activities throughout the school day
  • Implement wellbeing strategies and individual support plans
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams
  • Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times
  • Monitor and record pupil progress related to wellbeing and behaviour
  • Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant (Wellbeing Mentor)
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Experience in a wellbeing, mentoring, pastoral, or behaviour support role
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Ability to remain consistent and supportive in challenging situations
  • Commitment to promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing
  • Willingness to start on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

Your salary – dependent on experience – is paid weekly through PAYE.
