This KS2 SEND Teaching Assistant role offers a full‑time, temporary to permanent opportunity starting in September 2026. The role supports pupils with additional needs within a Key Stage 2 setting, helping them access learning, regulate emotions, and build independence. It is well suited to a calm, patient, and committed individual who is passionate about inclusive education and supporting pupils to make meaningful progress.
Dutiesas KS2 SEND Teaching Assistant
- Support pupils with SEND within a Key Stage 2 classroom environment
- Provide one‑to‑one and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum
- Assist with differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
- Work closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to follow individual support plans
- Support pupils during transitions and throughout the school day
- Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Observe and share information regarding pupil progress and well‑being
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
- Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within Key Stage 2
- Understanding of inclusive practice and child development
- Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Flexible and responsive to individual needs
- Willingness to begin on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
