KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, temporary to permanent from September 2026

This KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant role offers a full‑time, temporary to permanent opportunity starting in September 2026. The KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant will support pupils with additional needs within a Key Stage 1 setting, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and feel secure within the classroom. This role is ideal for a patient and nurturing KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant who is committed to inclusive practice and supporting pupils with a range of needs.
Dutiesas KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Support pupils with SEND within a Key Stage 1 classroom
- Provide one‑to‑one and small group support to help pupils access learning
- Assist with differentiated activities tailored to individual needs
- Support pupils’ communication, social, and emotional development
- Promote positive behaviour, routines, and emotional regulation
- Work closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to follow support plans
- Support pupils during transitions and throughout the school day
- Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Observe and share information regarding pupil progress and well‑being
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
- Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within Key Stage 1
- Understanding of inclusive practice and early child development
- Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Flexible and responsive to individual needs
- Willingness to start on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
Salary: dependent on experience, paid weekly through PAYE.
