KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, temporary to permanent from September 2026

This KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant role offers a full‑time, temporary to permanent opportunity starting in September 2026. The KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant will support pupils with additional needs within a Key Stage 1 setting, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and feel secure within the classroom. This role is ideal for a patient and nurturing KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant who is committed to inclusive practice and supporting pupils with a range of needs.

Duties

as KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Support pupils with SEND within a Key Stage 1 classroom
  • Provide one‑to‑one and small group support to help pupils access learning
  • Assist with differentiated activities tailored to individual needs
  • Support pupils’ communication, social, and emotional development
  • Promote positive behaviour, routines, and emotional regulation
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to follow support plans
  • Support pupils during transitions and throughout the school day
  • Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Observe and share information regarding pupil progress and well‑being
  • Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant:
  • Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within Key Stage 1
  • Understanding of inclusive practice and early child development
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Flexible and responsive to individual needs
  • Willingness to start on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

Salary: dependent on experience, paid weekly through PAYE.
