KS3 SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time, temporary to permanent from September 2026

This KS3 SEND Teaching Assistant role offers a full‑time, temporary to permanent opportunity starting in September 2026. The KS3 SEND Teaching Assistant will support pupils with additional needs within a Key Stage 3 setting, helping them access learning, regulate emotions, and build confidence during an important stage of their education. This role is ideal for a calm, resilient, and committed KS3 SEND Teaching Assistant who is passionate about inclusive practice and supporting pupils to make meaningful progress.

Duties

as KS3 SEND Teaching Assistant
  • Support pupils with SEND within a Key Stage 3 classroom environment
  • Provide one‑to‑one and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum
  • Assist with differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
  • Work closely with class teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to follow support plans
  • Support pupils during transitions, lessons, and unstructured times
  • Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Observe and share information regarding pupil progress and well‑being
  • Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times
Ideal KS3 SEND Teaching Assistant
  • Experience supporting young people with SEND, ideally within Key Stage 3
  • Understanding of inclusive practice and adolescent development
  • Calm, patient, and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Flexible and responsive to individual needs
  • Willingness to begin on a temporary basis with the opportunity to become permanent
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
