Are you an experienced electrically biased Multi-Skilled Engineer ready to take the next step into engineering leadership ,without moving away from the hands-on side of engineering?

Ballantine Recruitment is supporting an established food manufacturing business in South Devon with the appointment of a Site Engineering Lead.

This is a key role within the site engineering function. You’ll be the main engineering contact on site, taking ownership of day-to-day engineering performance, supporting the engineering team and stepping in when technical issues arise.

This is not a purely desk-based management position.

You’ll remain hands-on with breakdowns, fault finding and maintenance, while also providing the leadership, direction and structure needed to drive engineering performance across the site.

The role

* Lead and support the engineering team while remaining hands-on.

* Take ownership of breakdown response, PPM delivery and plant reliability.

* Work closely with Production to minimise downtime and prioritise engineering activity.

* Drive effective use of the Pirana CMMS and engineering KPIs.

* Identify recurring engineering issues and drive practical improvements.

* Support engineering projects, equipment upgrades and continuous improvement.

* Coordinate contractors and external engineering support.

* Maintain strong engineering, H&S and food manufacturing standards.

What we’re looking for

* Electrically biased, multi-skilled engineering background.

* Strong electrical fault-finding and hands-on maintenance capability.

* Experience with in food manufacturing, FMCG or a fast-paced production environment.

* Previous experience supervising, leading or taking responsibility for an engineering team.

* Strong understanding of PPM, reactive maintenance and plant reliability.

* CMMS experience;
Pirana would be advantageous.

* Confident taking ownership and acting as the main engineering contact on site.

* A practical leader who is comfortable leading from the front.
