Ella Rowcroft ward & HCU at Torbay Hospital is currently looking to appoint a band 2 ward clerk. We are looking for a caring and motivated individual to join our multidisciplinary team.
You will need to show commitment, have good communication skills and be an organised individual.

Main duties of the job- To act with professionalism and integrity, being a role model to those around us and ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity
- To provide a service that is tailored to meet the needs of the individual and to understand what our patients/customers need and be adaptable and responsive
- To provide a high-quality customer service which complies with relevant legislation and NHS Employment check standards
- To be honest and learn from mistakes, and help to create a "no-blame" culture where people feel able to share and learn from experiences together
- To work as part of a team demonstrating effective communication, and working collaboratively with colleagues inside and outside the department
- Acknowledge that you need to continually deliver greater value to customers
- Order and prep notes for people coming in for the planned procedures. Answering the phone and face‑to‑face enquiries.
- Ensure that all patient records and investigation results are available when required by the nursing and medical staff; accurately record admissions, transfers and discharges on Swift plus and PAS, ensuring pathways are correct; responsible for all patient notes within the ward, ensuring drug charts, CTGs and other loose filing are filed appropriately and securely; liaise with other departments and wards re beds and patient management as required;
order and prep notes for those attending for planned procedures - Dealing with face‑to‑face and over the phone enquiries, in a professional manner and maintaining confidentiality.
- Assisting staff with daily activities for example booking transport, emailing referrals.

Qualifications and training- GCSE grade 4/C in English and Maths
- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Qualification at level 3 in Business Admin
- Experience in working with the general public
- Previous clerical experience
