Job SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity within our department. You will support the Specialist Rheumatology Nurses in caring for patients with rheumatology diagnoses and musculoskeletal medicine, supporting patients with physical, emotional and social needs.
Responsibilities- Under the direction of the Lead Rheumatology Specialist Nurse, care for a defined caseload of patients, always acting as the patient advocate.
- Provide support, advice and education to patients and significant others in the management of their care.
- Complete induction and training.
- Action and organise patient test results.
- Recognise and act on management plans for abnormal blood results for patients on disease-modifying anti‑rheumatic drugs using the Trust IT systems.
- Answer patient queries via the Rheumatology telephone helpline, email and telephone.
- Participate in educational presentations for patients and staff.
- Manage all aspects of rheumatology conditions.
- Continue to develop through CPD and undertake all mandatory training.
The Rheumatology Specialist Nursing team is based in Kitson Hall, Torbay Hospital. This friendly team works closely with the Rheumatology Consultants and the wider MDT to provide an effective and responsive Monday to Friday service, delivering nurse‑led clinics to patients with all types of rheumatology conditions. This is mainly an office‑based position, however you will be expected to work between the TSDFT hospitals.
