We are seeking a due to qualify, newly qualified or experienced Band 5 NMCregistered nurse to join our passionate and supportive team. Our Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) is a busy, friendly Level 1 neonatal unit providing high-quality, family-centred care to babies and their families at the very start of their neonatal journey.
UnitOverview
The unit comprises 10 cots, including:
- 2 HDU cots
- 4 Special Care cots
- A newly established 4-bedded Transitional Care unit
We care for babies from 32 weeks gestation, provide stabilisation for more premature or critically unwell term neonates, and work closely with the Peninsula Neonatal Transport Team. As part of the Southwest Neonatal Network, we offer excellent exposure to wider neonatal pathways and best practice.
Responsibilities- Provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to neonates requiring special care, high dependency, or intensive care.
- Undertake comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care plans in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
- Monitor and record infants' clinical condition, including vital signs, feeding tolerance, respiratory support, and developmental progress, escalating concerns appropriately.
- Support and educate parents and families, promoting family-centred care and encouraging parental involvement in their baby's care.
- Responsible for the delivery of effective, high quality nursing care in accordance with local, service line and Trust policies and guidelines with the support of the Senior Nursing Team.
- Participate in Southwest Neonatal Network service development.
- Participate in and demonstrate evidence-based practice;
