Overview
We are a Paediatric Dietetics team of 5 with support from a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner and secretarial/admin staff. The role involves assessing and providing Dietetic care to infants, children and young people with a wide range of health conditions and supporting parents and carers. You will join a highly innovative team and contribute to the Paediatric Dietetic Service, which includes close MDT work with agencies such as CAMHS and social services to provide a safe, effective and seamless service.
We offer placements for Student Dietitians (in association with the University of Plymouth) and training for acute and community colleagues including Health Visitors, GPs, Nurses and Paediatricians. Location:
Torbay and South Devon region. Torbay Hospital provides acute care for the local community with access to nearby facilities and attractive living options near the sea, Dartmoor National Park and Exmoor National Park. Plymouth and Exeter are within convenient reach for culture and travel.
- Provide Dietetic assessment and care for infants, children and young people with diverse health conditions.
- Support parents and carers in managing nutrition and dietary needs.
- Deliver a mixed caseload including inpatients and outpatients, nutrition support, allergy services, and gastro-related care.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and collaborate with services such as CAMHS and social services to ensure safe, high-quality care.
- Take opportunities for learning and shadowing; support staff development and contribute to student placements.
- Utilise information technology to prepare presentations, reports and documents, conduct literature searches, and use email.
- Degree or equivalent in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Autonomous practitioner with the ability to seek guidance when appropriate.
- Good knowledge of current clinical guidelines and frameworks relevant to paediatric dietetics.
- Ability to work across Torbay and South Devon according to role needs.
- Proficient IT skills and the ability to prepare presentations, reports and documents.
- Strong communication skills to support patients and carers through diet-related decisions and difficulties.
- Capacity to manage long periods of concentration, including calculations, with occasional interruptions.
