Diabetes and Wound Specialist Podiatrist

Overview

We are looking for an individual to work with the diabetes podiatry service at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, potentially working across 10 locations. This role offers a developmental opportunity to work independently while supporting a high‑risk caseload.

• Manage a high‑risk caseload in both in‑patient and out‑patient settings.
• Provide comprehensive podiatric assessment, health education, and referrals to other health‑care professionals.
• Teach and undertake research work within the department.
• Carry out home visits for house‑bound patients.
• Collaborate with community podiatry, MDFT Active Foot, and other multidisciplinary teams.

• Proven record of excellence in diabetes podiatry and wound management.
• Independent podiatry practitioner experience.
• Highly developed clinical skills and experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience managing a high‑risk caseload.
• Priority will be given to applicants with recognised Priority or At Risk status, including NHS staff identified across Devon.

Staff are supported with appraisal (PDP), dedicated SPA time, and, in the longer term, rotation onto internal hospital‑based training.

The department works from 10 locations across South Devon and focuses on high standards of care and innovation, including the use of VR headsets in nail surgery and the development of a diabetic foot app.
