We are looking for the equivalent of 2 full-time consultants (20 PAs) following the recent retirement of one colleague and expansion of the team to help with current and future service provision. This could either be as a 10 PA post or part-time posts and discussions around this would be encouraged prior to interview. We are looking for general haematologists with a current special interest or willingness to develop a special interest in either malignant or classical/medical haematology.
There are currently five haematologists, in addition to the above, providing an on-call service covering a population of around 300,000. The successful applicant will join our team of 5 consultants:

- Lead for myeloma
Dr Barry Jackson
- Clinical lead and lead for haemophilia, transfusion and MPNDr Tom Skinner- MDT and clinical governance lead
Dr Deborah Turner
- Lead for lymphoma
Dr Rui Zhao
- Lead for acute leukaemia and transplantation
Main duties of the jobWe are seeking individuals to join our team at Torbay as a substantive haematology consultant. You will be expected to join the senior medical team in running outpatient clinics, supporting patients having day case and inpatient haemato-oncology treatment by providing high-quality consultant delivered care including clinical leadership, supervision of resident medical staff and supporting our laboratory team. You will be proactive in ensuring that all patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision making. Take ownership for and deliver your own workload
Contribute to the medical leadership, management and innovation within haematology services.
Offer support and training to all non-consultant grade doctors within the unit, including clinical and educational supervision
Promote inter-disciplinary working in the department and across the hospital.
To ensure that current standards and evidence-based practice are applied.
Participate in clinical audit program, including both departmental and multidisciplinaryaudit.
Contribute to research and innovative practice within haematology.

Our department, Non-Surgical Cancer Services reports to the Cancer and Clinical Support Services Division and the wider Planned Care, Care Group. Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is one of four hospitals providing non-surgical cancer treatment within Devon and Cornwall (Royal Devon University Healthcare Foundation Trust, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Foundation Trust, Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.)
Systemic Anti-Cancer treatment and Radiotherapy is administered in all these sites.
