Registered Nurse – Discharge LoungeWe are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, dynamic nurse to provide high‑quality person‑centred care. You will serve as a role model and work collaboratively with senior team members, including the ward manager, matron and lead nurse.
Main duties of the jobAs a registered nurse within the discharge lounge, you will be responsible to the Nurse Coordinator / Senior Sister for the assessment, planning, and delivery of care for designated patients, as part of a multidisciplinary professional team.
- Assess patients and monitor vital signs, symptoms, and overall condition.
- Administer medications and treatments, including IVs, injections, and wound care.
- Develop and update care plans based on patient needs and doctor orders.
- Collaborate with allied health and medical professionals, nursing workforce and administration teams.
- Operate medical equipment and respond to emergencies when needed.
- Educate patients and families, explaining conditions, medications and home care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and reports.
- Advocate for patients, ensuring their safety, comfort and appropriate care.
- Record nursing care, evaluate outcomes, modify documentation, and contribute to audit/quality improvement work.
- Carry out holistic needs‑led assessments and act as the care manager for identified service users.
- Respond to service demands and adjust planned activities as necessary.
37.5 hours per week (3 long days a week plus one 4‑day week over a month) – a 34‑hour week may be considered. This is a Mon‑Sunday service.
Qualifications and Training- Registered with the NMC (Level
1). - Diploma/degree in Nursing or an equivalent pathway.
- Evidence of meeting PREP requirements.
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge of clinical governance.
- Awareness of the NHS plan and current initiatives.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Salary£32,073 to £39,043 per annum, pro rata.
