Position Overview

Registered Nurse with a focus on elderly and dementia care, or a strong interest in developing expertise in this area.

Work Setting

Cheetham Hill Ward – a 28‑bedded elderly ward managing a wide range of acute medical conditions. You will work with a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and maintain a safe clinical environment for patients, carers, visitors and staff.
  • Comply with Trust values and expected behaviours, delivering a high standard of care in partnership with the MDT.
  • Ensure all care, assessments, treatments and documentation align with Stroke National Guidelines and act as an advocate for patients, families, and staff.
  • Act with professionalism and integrity, serving as a role model and ensuring equal opportunity for everyone.
  • Deliver a service that is tailored to individual needs and demonstrates adaptability and responsiveness.
  • Document and evaluate all care provided.
  • Advocate for staff, patients, and relatives at all times.
  • Provide high‑quality customer service in compliance with relevant legislation and NHS Employment Check standards.
  • Promote a “no‑blame” culture where experiences can be shared and learned from.
  • Monitor side effects of treatments and use a problem‑solving approach to minimise adverse reactions.
  • Work collaboratively within the team, demonstrating effective communication with colleagues inside and outside the department.
  • Undertake intravenous drug administration within 6 months of posting after successful completion of Trust training and assessment.
  • Continuously deliver greater value to patients and the organisation.
  • Encourage curiosity, openness, and honesty about challenges, fostering a culture of learning.
