Temporary Housing Officer

37 hours per week

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Officer to join a housing provider in Plymouth on an 8-week temporary contract, with the potential for the role to suit candidates seeking flexible hybrid working.

The role will focus on housing management and estate management, supporting a varied portfolio of approximately 600 properties across Plymouth. The accommodation includes supported accommodation, sheltered housing and bungalows for residents aged 60+.

Key responsibilities:
  • Manage a varied caseload of tenancy and estate management matters.
  • Undertake estate inspections, tenancy visits and property-related meetings.
  • Identify and resolve tenancy, estate and neighbourhood issues.
  • Work proactively with residents and partner agencies.
  • Manage anti-social behaviour cases where required.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure cases are progressed effectively.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Work across a defined patch while contributing to wider housing management services.
About you:

We are looking for a generic Housing Officer with solid housing management experience, ideally within social housing.

You should have:
  • Previous experience within social housing/housing management.
  • Experience managing a varied tenancy/caseload.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to deal confidently and sensitively with a predominantly older resident group.
  • Good knowledge of tenancy and estate management processes.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise workload and manage competing demands.
  • A full driving licence and access to transport would be advantageous.
Working arrangements:

The role is 37 hours per week, with approximately 2 days office-based and the remainder split between patch-based working and homeworking.
