We are seeking a seasoned Tax Manager to join our Torrance team. This role is ideal for a technically proficient, detail-oriented accounting professional with strong leadership capabilities. The Tax Manager will oversee complex tax engagements, mentor staff, and ensure all returns are completed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with all applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform technical review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations, including complex returns.
- Take full responsibility for larger and more complex business returns, delegating tasks as appropriate.
- Provide expert guidance to tax preparers, specialists, and A&A staff on complex tax issues.
- Actively participate in client meetings and tax planning sessions
, assisting the Auditing & Accounting Department with larger engagements. - Represent clients before taxing authorities as needed.
- Maintain smooth workflow of tax returns
, ensuring timely, complete, and accurate preparation and delivery. - Research and evaluate tax preparation and research software for potential adoption by the firm.
- Ensure accurate and timely billing and collection processes.
- Support firm practice development through community involvement, referral sources, and business development initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-Seniors, and Staff Accountants.
- Conduct staff performance evaluations, coaching, and training in alignment with department goals.
- 57 years of public accounting experience demonstrating a proven progression in tax complexity and scope.
- Minimum five years hands‑on experience preparing individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns.
- At least two years supervisory experience directing and mentoring tax preparers.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required;
Master's degree in Taxation preferred. - Active CPA license required.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Commitment to hybrid work model with at least three days in‑office weekly
