Position SummaryThe Prosthodontist Dental Assistant works under the supervision of a dentist to prepare equipment, assist with procedures, and support patients throughout treatment. Key duties include passing instruments, holding suction catheters, providing chair‑side assistance, processing x‑rays, and handling laboratory tasks.
Responsibilities- Work under the direct supervision of the Prosthodontist.
- Provide chair‑side assistance during examinations and treatments.
- Ensure patients are comfortable and maintain their records.
- Hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients’ mouths clear using suction or other devices.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments, prepare trays, and provide patient post‑operative instructions.
- Prepare materials for impressions and restorations and take/process dental x‑rays.
- Assist with radiographic equipment and procedures.
- Perform office duties such as scheduling, billing, receiving payments, and ordering supplies.
- Support specialty areas including oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, and implantology.
- Assist the hygienist with cleaning trays and room setups.
- Track inventory of prosthetic supplies and maintain organized storage.
- Support radiographic needs of the patient education consultants, oral surgeon, and hygienists.
- Work in a well‑lit, clean environment near the dental chair.
- Wear gloves, masks, eyewear, and protective clothing to prevent infection.
- Follow safety procedures to minimize risks associated with x‑ray machines.
- Certification as a Dental Assistant by the A.D.A.
- Minimum two years of Dental Assistant experience.
- Dental implant experience desirable.
- Reliable, teamwork oriented, fast‑paced environment, good manual dexterity.
- Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Work in an office environment at various desks and offices.
- Walk the floor and assist where needed for extended periods.
- Lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Stand for extended periods and maintain steady hand/arm positioning.
- Make precise, coordinated movements with fingers.
- Adjust machine controls accurately.
- Use trunk strength to support body continuously without fatigue.
- Switch between multiple activities or information sources.
- Possess good multi‑limb coordination and manual dexterity.
The anticipated hourly range for this position is $24–$27.
