Captain – Healthcare Projects

MA|Architects, Inc.is seeking a Job Captain with 5 to 10 years of experience in healthcare design and construction to support several ongoing VA healthcare projects. As a small, studio-based firm, our team members gain exposure to all phases of design and construction, from concept through closeout, while collaborating directly with senior staff and consultants.

• Accredited degree in Architecture or Construction Management
• 5 to 10 years of professional architectural office experience focused on healthcare projects
• Experience working with Revit and AutoCAD for the design and production of construction documents and integrated BIM processes
• Strong technical abilities, attention to detail, and research skills
• Excellent verbal and graphic communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite; working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Bluebeam
• Ability to work within a team environment and coordinate with multiple project stakeholders
• Architectural license or actively pursuing licensure is preferred
• Commitment to promoting sustainable design

• Manage and contribute to the development of design drawings from concept through construction completion
• Coordinate project work with internal design staff, consultants, clients, vendors, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies
• Support technical design, design development, project coordination, and quality control for all phases of work
• Research building codes and other project requirements relevant to healthcare facilities
• Perform site visits, conduct field investigations, attend client meetings, and participate in Construction Administration activities
• Provide document support during construction, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and preparing related documentation

This position plays a critical part in our healthcare design practice, supporting active VA medical campus projects and helping transition responsibilities following recent staffing changes. The successful candidate will be able to balance coordination, documentation, consultant communication, and technical execution while guiding portions of the work independently.
