Moog Military Aircraft Group has an immediate opening for a Supplier Quality Engineer to be involved in all stages of the supplier lifecycle, from initial assessment and selection to ongoing performance monitoring and improvement. They work closely with internal stakeholders (engineering, procurement, manufacturing) and external suppliers to establish and maintain robust quality systems that deliver defect‑free parts and on‑time delivery. Reporting to the Supplier Quality & Development Manager, you will have an on‑site 9/80 work schedule in Torrance, CA.

The company is a global leader in designing primary and secondary flight control actuation systems (FCAS) for military aircraft, including the F‑35 Lightning II and the V280 Valor next‑generation tiltrotor aircraft. Headquartered in East Aurora, NY, Moog employs 14,000 employees in 24 countries.

As Moog strategically increases the quantity of parts it purchases from external supply chain partners, there is a critical need for skilled Supplier Quality Engineers to ensure the highest levels of quality and reliability. Supplier Quality Engineers play a vital role in driving continuous improvement within our supply base, mitigating risks, and ensuring that all purchased parts meet stringent aerospace industry standards.

To be considered for Supplier Quality Engineer, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant subject (ex: Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain);
    Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical is a plus
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a Supplier Quality Engineer or related Quality Assurance role within the aerospace or a similar regulated industry (e.g., automotive, medical device)
  • Experience with industry‑standard quality tools and methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, MSA, SPC, APQP, AS9100)
  • Proficiency with quality management systems, including AS9100 and other relevant aerospace standards
  • Experience with root cause analysis techniques and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) implementation
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and inspection methods
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification)
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab)
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor certification
  • Strong data‑driven decision‑making, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
  • Experience in core defect prevention tools (DFMA, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, Capability Analysis, Error Proofing, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work in cross‑functional teams to tight deadlines and often under pressure
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (APQP and PPAP)
  • Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and regulations, particularly AS13000 series, AS9102, AS9103, and AS9145
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Conducting supplier assessments and audits to evaluate their quality systems and capabilities
  • Managing and resolving non‑conformances, including the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Supporting the development and implementation of supplier improvement plans
  • Reviewing and approving supplier documentation (e.g., PPAP submissions, control plans, FMEAs)
  • Monitoring supplier performance and identifying areas for improvement
  • Conducting root cause analysis of quality issues and implementing effective solutions
