About Rivian
Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions‑free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.
As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
Role SummaryThe Design Industrialization Manager – Electronics will play a critical role in bringing Rivian's cutting‑edge electronic components from design to high‑volume production. This individual will be a key interface between our internal design teams, contract manufacturers (CMs), and equipment suppliers, ensuring that our PCBAs and other electrical assemblies are designed for manufacturability, cost‑effectiveness, and quality at scale. A significant aspect of this role will be to establish and lead a regional team focused on supplier engagement and industrialization efforts, starting in Mexico.
Responsibilities- Collaborate closely with Rivian's electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and design teams from concept through production to provide expert feedback on DFM/DFA for PCBAs and complex electrical assemblies.
- Drive the implementation of best practices in design to optimize for automated manufacturing processes, testability, and cost.
- Conduct comprehensive design reviews, identifying potential manufacturing risks and proposing solutions.
- Ensure designs align with the capabilities and processes of our contract manufacturers and suppliers.
- Act as the primary technical liaison with contract manufacturers and key suppliers for electronics components, particularly in Mexico.
- Work hands‑on with CMs and suppliers to understand their manufacturing processes, identify constraints, and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead technical discussions, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions related to manufacturing issues, yield, and quality.
- Support supplier selection, qualification, and ongoing performance management from a technical industrialization perspective.
- Responsible for establishing, recruiting, and building out a high‑performing regional Design Industrialization team in Mexico and potentially other regions.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Define team objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure alignment with overall program goals.
- Provide strong leadership and direction to the regional team, ensuring effective communication and execution of industrialization strategies on the ground.
- Drive yield improvement initiatives and implement process controls at CMs and suppliers.
- Evaluate and approve manufacturing processes, fixtures, and tooling.
- Ensure robust process validation and production readiness for new product introductions (NPIs).
- Implement data‑driven approaches to identify and resolve manufacturing bottlenecks and quality issues.
- Work seamlessly with Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Program Management teams to ensure successful product launches and ongoing production.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, providing clear updates on project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Bachelor's degree (or greater) in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, industrialization, or DFM roles, with a strong focus on electronics manufacturing, specifically PCBAs and electrical assemblies.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, with demonstrated success in building and leading technical teams, preferably in an international context.
- Deep understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes (SMT, wave solder, testing, etc.) and common failure modes.
- Extensive experience working directly with contract manufacturers and suppliers in high‑volume production environments.
- Proven track record of driving DFM/DFA improvements…
