Responsibilities- Develop and prepare construction plans, drawings, and/or circuit maps; design electrical distribution plans, identify necessary resources, provide cost estimates, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, rules, rates, and completion dates.
- Interact with a diverse customer base to meet electrical design needs and deliver successful outcomes for both the customer and SCE on assigned projects.
- Participate in small to medium-sized residential, commercial, and industrial projects; determine scope of work, method of service, and construction methods for distribution overhead and underground facilities; manage work orders and maintain understanding of industry practices and standards.
- Provide technical support for licensing and certification proceedings related to new distribution/transmission lines and substation sites.
- Stay up-to-date with current industry practices, standards, and customer needs.
- Identify environmental requirements and coordinate required project components with other departments, customers, governmental bodies, and external sources.
- Support project drawings and budgets by monitoring internal and external customer timelines and expectations.
- Manage multiple projects using project management principles, tools, and techniques under tight time constraints, shifting priorities, and minimal supervision; resolve project risks, issues, and escalations impacting scope, timeline, and budget.
- Perform field inspections to gather data for planning and development review and verify compliance with approved plans.
- Ensure the protection of the company’s physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets and properly manage private customer data and confidential information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
- At least one year of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution Design, Transmission Design, Distribution Line Construction, or an Electrical Engineering discipline.
- Valid Class C Driver's License.
- Effective communication and customer service skills to interact with diverse customers and stakeholders.
- Experience in project management, including managing scope and timelines.
- Experience with engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
- Experience with Design Manager, SAP, Autodesk Utility Design, Spida Calc, and related engineering and construction manuals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience developing and designing electrical distribution plans, estimating costs, and identifying resources.
- Training or education in engineering, drafting, architecture, construction, mapping, design, mechanics, mathematics, science, or information technology.
- Experience using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, drive and navigate uneven surfaces, stand and sit for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions, including remote regions such as coast, desert, and mountains across California.
- The position is hybrid: employees will work from an SCE facility a set number of days and may work remotely on remaining days; employees must reside in California unless otherwise noted.
