Responsibilities- Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives.
- Approves and qualifies vendors, obtains quotes, examines bids and makes awards.
- Follows up on all awards through completion of order.
- Negotiates with suppliers and analyzes suppliers’ operations to determine price‑quality‑schedule trade‑offs.
- Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, and maintains necessary records.
- Prepares request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages.
- Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, returns, over‑shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes.
- Obtains quotes, negotiates, and procures materials and services for best value.
- Prepares required paperwork for purchase order package, shippers, RFPs/RFQs, supplier and interdepartmental correspondence.
- Verifies accuracy of all documentation such as supplier proposals to purchase orders, file documentation, invoices and receipts, and signs purchase orders.
- Interfaces with current and potential suppliers to determine best price and delivery for current requirements and stays abreast of economic and business situations.
- Maintains total ownership of supplier’s deliveries and performs corrective actions when necessary.
- Processes rejected materials back to supplier in a timely manner.
- Develops new vendors and participates with Engineering in evaluation and selection of alternate sources of supply.
- Reports accurate and up‑to‑date information in MRP and production meetings; strives to meet performance metric of 100% current data.
- Interfaces with Engineering and Planning regarding drawing discrepancies, BOM, and EO’s; works with Program Managers on contract‑related problems.
- Makes periodic visits to manufacturers and suppliers to ensure procurement standards are maintained.
- Conducts weekly desk audits to ensure requisitions, purchase order updates, RTVs, invoice resolution, and tracking to completion meet company standards.
- Other assignments as identified by the Procurement Manager.
- Bachelor's degree and at least six years of related experience.
- Experience in military electronics, electrical material, make‑to‑print, and/or general purchasing.
- Experience in government documentation of purchasing records.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to interface with multiple departments.
- Experience in negotiations, price/cost analysis, and supplier development meeting Government requirements.
- Advanced Excel and other technical skills for supplier performance improvement.
- Experience leading strategic initiatives related to supplier selection, delivery specifications, and quality.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience with Infor LN software is a plus.
