Chief Financial Officer

Ideal candidate will be bilingual in Spanish and/or Japanese;
Japanese language proficiency is strongly preferred.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for managing key accounting staff and ensuring robust financial controls are maintained. This role partners with key personnel to improve financial processes, enhance internal controls to ensure accuracy in financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented and able to mentor other accounting team members while meeting key deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor accounting managers and supervisors to ensure succession readiness.

• Lead the development of annual operating plans, budgets, and financial targets aligned with long‑term business goals.

• Oversee daily accounting functions including journal entries and assist in improving accounts receivable, payable, and cash application processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

• Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly/quarterly/yearly management reports.

• Perform in‑depth financial analysis and provide insights to support business decisions.

• Support internal and external audits and assist with asset management.

• Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Education

Post‑secondary education and at least 5 years’ industry experience.

Experience

• Accounting, finance or business degree required.

• At least 5 years of financial experience within logistics (freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and contract logistics preferred).

• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to process financial data.

• Detail‑ and deadline‑oriented, takes initiative, and strong decision‑making skills.

• Solid organizational skills to oversee multiple open projects.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Experience with Cargo Wise and Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.

• Strong planning and organizational skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the accounting team to achieve objectives.
