Job SummaryAs an integral member of the Pharmacy team at The Lundquist Institute (TLI), the Clinical Trials Pharmacist performs responsibilities that enhance the reputation and service orientation of the Department. Duties include coordinating, collaborating and providing expertise in support of clinical investigational drug trials; performing education responsibilities; providing accurate and efficient dispensing of medications; performing administrative responsibilities; providing direct and/or functional supervision;
maintaining overall responsibility for pharmacy operations in assigned area; performing communication responsibilities; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
TLI is a non-profit research organization that offers early drug development and late phase services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. We are proud to offer services in cardiovascular, infectious diseases and vaccines, respiratory, immunology, ophthalmology, and genetic disorders.
Essential Job Functions- Follow all study and non-study regulations including HIPAA, OSHA, GCP, ICH guidelines, and federal, state, and local laws.
- Review protocols (industry, NIH sponsored, PI-initiated), as required.
- Maintain close cross-functional relationships with clients and clinical teams to best design, plan, implement, and direct IP activities to meet the clinical objectives.
- Assist the clinical team with protocol review and develop study manuals for drug preparation.
- Maintain a detailed knowledge and understanding of study protocols, including all protocol requirements for investigational drug administration.
- Maintain a pharmacy binder containing all study-specific information (protocol, IRB approval, summary, drug receipts, drug accountability records, and other relevant project information).
- Manage inventory for clinical investigational drug trials; order, replace, and return study materials as required.
- Assist in ensuring the participation of the pharmacy department in all clinical trials that involve drugs.
- Orient staff to pharmacy’s role with respect to clinical investigational drug trials.
- Provide drug information to physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals regarding clinical investigational trial drugs.
- Delegate work assignments and check work orders filled by technicians.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace.
- Attend and productively participate in staff meetings and trainings, as needed.
- Maintain a high degree of client confidentiality.
- Maintain a pleasant, courteous, and tactful attitude with all contacts.
- Work with minimal supervision, exercising initiative in organizing and completing daily tasks.
- Solve minor problems by using judgment based on knowledge of Institute’s policies and department practices and procedures.
- Meet established productivity and task management standards for assigned duties.
- Overtime may be required based on the needs of the Institute.
- Perform other tasks as may be required for efficient operation of the department.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (required).
- Pharmacy experience, preferably in a hospital setting (required).
- Inpatient dispensing and IV admixture experience.
- Extreme attention to detail; strict adherence to policies and protocols is essential.
- Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
- Current and clear California Pharmacist License (required).

- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus when viewing a computer monitor.
- An occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level is usually low.
