Report to:
General Counsel

Position Purpose and Expectations

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for legal advice and documentation for Lovisa Americas and other countries as required, including:

  • Drafting and negotiating legal agreements and precedents
  • Maintenance of legal document registers and trackers (e.g., contracts registers, intellectual property registers, litigation trackers)
  • Assisting with managing legal disputes and litigation
  • Liaising with external lawyers on matters (where applicable)
  • Keeping informed of legislative changes and legal matters which will affect Lovisa and ensuring relevant team members are informed and processes and procedures are implemented to ensure compliance
  • Providing day‑to‑day general legal advice as required
Skills & Attributes
  • Approximately 3 – 6 years’ experience in an in‑house legal retail environment, preferable with employment and some litigation experience
  • Clear oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Concise and accurate drafting skills
  • Windows and other Microsoft Office products – intermediate to advanced level
Key Measures and Accountabilities
  • Legal documentation
    • Leases and other documentation are accurate, in accordance with nominated Lovisa parameters and executed within prescribed time frames.
  • Reporting
    • Reports, registers and systems are updated accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Regular reporting to General Counsel and other department heads as required.
  • Litigation
    • Legal disputes are managed efficiently and cost-effectively having regard to the nature of the dispute and legal risk.
  • Legal risk and education
    • Legal developments in relevant jurisdictions are monitored and communicated to relevant parts of the business.
    • Processes and procedures implemented to ensure legal compliance and minimise legal risk.
