RN NICU FT Days – Torrance Memorial

The Staff RN uses the nursing process to deliver nursing care to a given patient care population as it relates to the care setting. Nursing care is based on the interpretation and execution of the medical and nursing plan of treatment utilizing established procedures standards and protocols of individuals within the assigned work shift. The Staff RN provides nursing care to the population served in the unit.

• Communicates with the patient, family, medical staff and others during the continuum of care

• Routinely attends NICU staff meetings, neonatology multidisciplinary meetings, and NICU/Respiratory meetings as able
• Participates in NICU interdisciplinary patient rounds
• Supports implementation of NICU protocols
• Assists and supports a new or transferred employee through orientation
• Collects and analyzes information about the patient and environment to promote and maintain patient safety
• Manages the environment to promote infant security/safety including parental education
• Demonstrates ability to care for patients with arterial lines
• Collaborates with clinical leadership on data submission and analysis within standards and timelines
• Identifies staff competencies and educational needs; mentors as needed
• Implements Infection Control procedures to reduce hospital-acquired infections

• Education:
  
  College Diploma in Nursing
• License/Certification:
  Registered Nurse License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 3 months of hire

Knowledge of O2 therapy, airway insertion, and mechanical ventilation maintenance and weaning. Ability to perform at a high-risk delivery, including emergency neonatal resuscitation efforts and Code management. Supports breastfeeding education and process, including pump cleaning, with mothers.

$50.93 - $80.45 / Hour
