Ideal candidates will have hands‑on inspection experience, strong knowledge of GD&T, and proficiency in using and maintaining a variety of precision measurement tools and calibration methods in accordance with industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform in-process, first article (FAI), and final inspections on machined aerospace components and assemblies to ensure dimensional accuracy and compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Visually and dimensionally inspect incoming materials, in-process parts, and finished products to identify defects, non-conformances, or quality concerns.
  • Collaborate daily with machine operators, engineers, and production supervisors to resolve part discrepancies and support a closed-loop feedback process.
  • Document all inspection results using Microsoft Excel, QMS forms, and other required formats per company and customer requirements.
  • Track non-conforming material and initiate or assist with non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Support quality assurance activities by verifying part traceability, reviewing routers and travelers, and confirming all inspection steps are properly documented.
  • Monitor shop floor compliance with quality control processes, including adherence to proper tool usage and storage practices.
  • Participate in 5S, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards within the inspection process.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of inspection experience in an aerospace or precision machining environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T, including stacked tolerances and geometric callouts.
  • Proficient in operating and maintaining a wide range of inspection and measurement tools, including:
    • Micrometers (outside, inside, depth, blade, and disc)
    • Dial, digital, and Vernier calipers
    • Dial and test indicators
    • Height gauges
    • Surface plates
    • Bore, pin, thread, radius, and angle gauges
    • Surface finish testers (profilometers)
    • Optical comparators
    • CMM (manual or DCC preferred)
  • Familiarity with and/or ability to perform calibration activities using methods such as:
    • Comparison with certified master gauges or standards
    • Calibration of micrometers and calipers with certified gauge blocks
    • Verification of height gauges with step blocks
    • Dial indicator checks using certified test indicators
    • Surface plate flatness checks using straight edges and repeat-o-meters
  • Experience documenting inspection data in Microsoft Excel and completing AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced shop environment.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and aerospace documentation practices is a plus.
