The Senior Scientist, New Product Development is responsible for developing and commercializing innovative clinical sample preparation products and LC-MS/MS workflows for mass spectrometry-based applications. This role serves as a subject matter expert in clinical sample preparation, LC-MS/MS method development, and applied workflow development, while remaining flexible to support broader new product development projects across magnetic bead-based sample preparation, extraction, enrichment, cleanup, and other analytical technologies as business needs evolve.

This position reports to the Senior R&D Manager, New Product Development and is part of the Research and Development Departmentlocated in Torrance, California and will be an on-site  this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Develop and commercialize clinical sample preparation consumables and LC-MS/MS workflows for clinical research, toxicology, forensic, pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and broader applied-market needs.

Identify and understand clinical sample preparation, LC-MS/MS workflow, and industrial separation challenges, and translate them into practical technical solutions and R&D opportunities.

Design, optimize, and troubleshoot sample preparation methods and workflows across diverse analytes, biological matrices, and applications, with emphasis on analyte recovery, matrix-effect reduction, reproducibility, and LC-MS/MS compatibility.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute projects, transfer technology, resolve technical issues, and deliver new products on time.

Review scientific literature, conduct experiments, evaluate workflow performance, communicate results, prepare technical and customer-facing materials, publish findings, and support patent filings.

The essential requirements of the job include:

Master’s degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or a related scientific field. A PhD is preferred.
3+ years Hands-on experience developing sample preparation, extraction, enrichment, cleanup, or quantitative workflows for biological, clinical, or other complex matrices.

Strong hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS, mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, or related analytical instrumentation, including method development, optimization, quantitative analysis, data interpretation, and troubleshooting.

Experience designing and interpreting experiments that assess method-performance attributes such as recovery, selectivity, sensitivity, reproducibility, matrix effects, carryover, and robustness.
