Description

Prep Cooks prepare and/or direct the preparation of food to be served, complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures. They ensure appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste, and fraud.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work in a team environment and be an effective team player.
  • Prepare or direct the preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems.
  • Determine the amount and type of food and supplies required using production systems; ensure availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation; serve or ensure proper serving of food for cooks line or later use.
  • Comply with established sanitation, personal hygiene, and health standards; observe proper food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Store food properly and safely by marking name, date, and times.
  • Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Correctly prepare all food served following standard recipes, special diet orders; portioning food for serving.
  • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that food quality, temperature, and appearance are preserved.
  • Maintain daily production records.
  • Keep work area neat and clean at all times; clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation.
  • Complete food temperature checks before service.
  • Peel, dice, shred, and slice food products using manual and automatic equipment.
  • Take pride in personal appearance; report to work in neat and clean clothing; maintain well‑groomed hair and personal hygiene as established by Company policy.
  • Display integrity and honesty in all aspects of employment.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

  • California food handlers card required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • One or more years of full‑service restaurant experience.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to workplace safety procedures.
  • Must be able to suggestively sell food and beverage items.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of full‑service restaurant experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the team member is standing the entire shift. The team member frequently reaches, bends, stoops, lifts, shakes, stirs, pours, carries, and pushes. The team member frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls in repetitive motions, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and carry tubs and cases weighing up to 75 pounds.

The team member is regularly exposed to kitchen equipment (e.g., oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer, and chef’s knives, etc.) and may be exposed to hazards including cuts from knives, slipping, tripping, falls, burns, smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity, extreme cold, contact with hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry, seafood and produce items, and frequent washing of hands.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
