The role is an integral part of Ross Stores’ growing loss prevention team, where you’ll provide a visible presence at the store entrances and exits, mitigate theft and fraud, and ensure a safe and secure environment for associates and customers.

General Purpose
  • Provide a visible “command” presence at store entrances/exits while walking the sales floor, deterring theft and ensuring safety.
  • Partner with Store Leadership to ensure compliance with Loss Prevention directives and minimize operational shortage.
  • Represent Ross treasure with a professional appearance and brand standards.
Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environment
  • Practice safe behaviors and assist Store Leadership in maintaining a safe environment for associates and customers.
  • Provide visible "command" presence, including greetings with eye contact and monitoring for safety issues.
  • Remove clutter and keep emergency exit egress clear.
Developing Great Teams & Partnerships
  • Provide great customer service by greeting customers, making eye contact, smiling and answering questions in a friendly manner.
  • Treat all customers and associates with respect and professionalism.
  • Recognize associates using company recognition programs.
  • Regularly involve with internal and external partners (calls, meetings, education, recognition, etc).
  • Other duties as assigned to support Loss Prevention initiatives.
Mitigating Theft & Fraud
  • Monitor entrances/exits and sales floor for potential theft by identifying suspicious behavior.
  • Gather theft indicators and communicate to Store Leadership and Loss Prevention Leadership.
  • Adhere to company policy for external theft response.
  • Execute all best practices and maximize productivity.
Minimizing Operational Shortage
  • Increase store awareness on effective processes to minimize operational shortage.
  • Train and educate associates on shortage reduction initiatives.
  • Observe and validate proper checkout procedures for customers and associates.

Qualifications & Special Skills
  • High school education or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
  • One year retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
  • One year loss prevention/security training preferred.
  • Active Security Guard License preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to resolve conflict.
  • Comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations for security positions.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Must be able to raise or lower objects more than 25 lbs. from one level to another.
  • Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
