Northwood is a space infrastructure company building ground station networks and cloud services for satellite communications. As an early-career Software Engineer on the Platform team, you will ship to production systems from day one with mentorship, building CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and operational tools for a global network of antenna sites.
What You'll Do- Build CI and release pipelines that deploy code from commit to production across cloud and remote ground stations worldwide
- Design and implement simulation and test environments using real hardware to validate releases before deployment to live sites
- Automate site onboarding, configuration, and updates for remote antenna locations with minimal on-site personnel
- Develop monitoring, logging, and alerting systems that provide visibility into service and site health across the global network
- Build backend services and web interfaces that enable engineers and operators to create, ship, and run software
- 0–2 years of professional software experience (internships, open source, and projects count)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, math, or related field (soft requirement)
- Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Go, Rust, Type Script, or C++
- Demonstrated ability to build and ship software that others used or relied on
- Ability to solve complex technical problems independently, such as debugging non-obvious failures or designing systems from scratch
- Experience with Linux command line and day-to-day comfort with Linux systems
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI), containers (Docker), cloud platforms (AWS), or infrastructure as code (Terraform, Cloud Formation)
- Background in full-stack development including backend APIs and frontend frameworks such as React
- Projects involving hardware, embedded systems, RF, robotics, or space (Cube Sat, rocketry, robotics teams)
- Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude, Codex, or Cursor
