Salary Range: $21.50 - $28.50 per hour, commensurate with experience
Position is open until filled. Anticipated start date is ASAP.
EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to teach preschool children in the Head Start program in Torrington, CT. The qualified candidate will be professional, organized, experienced working with preschool-aged children, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Major Responsibilities- Plan and implement a wide variety of creative and developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 3 to 5 that promote school readiness through language, literacy, cognition, social studies, mathematics, science, the arts, social-emotional skills and physical development in a culturally and linguistically rich environment.
- Develop and maintain on-going relationships with parents as partners in their child’s learning process.
- Conduct developmental screenings, observations, and on-going assessments to inform the development and implementation of monthly goals for each child.
- Conduct Home Visits and Parent/Teacher Conferences throughout the year to strengthen the home/school coordination of activities for the child. Work with parents to establish and evaluate developmental goals for the child.
- Ability to develop effective relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with children, families, and co-workers.
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) / Associate’s Degree (accepted) in Early Childhood or a related field with 12 ECE credits; experience teaching preschool-aged children preferred.
- Maintain confidentiality about issues related to children and their families.
- Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this job.
- Position self to bend and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Arrange classroom furniture based on needs of children and curriculum.
