Technical High School Assistant Principal Office/On-site #VA-001
Full‑time, Monday‑Friday position at Oliver Wolcott Technical High School, Torrington, CT. The State of Connecticut is inviting qualified candidates to apply for this Assistant Principal role. The position is year‑round and requires a current Intermediate Administration and Supervisor Certificate (Endorsement #092) issued by the State Board of Education.
Responsibilities- Assist the school principal with the development and implementation of school improvement plans.
- Support the scheduling team in creating student‑centered schedules and in the application of the computerized student information system.
- Oversee student assessment processes, collecting and analyzing data to ensure continuous student achievement.
- Lead staff evaluation and professional development initiatives, providing coaching, modeling, and mentoring to teachers.
- Collaborate with district leadership to select instructional materials and support school programs.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal laws, statutes, and regulations affecting school operations.
- Manage fiscal operations within the school, determining priorities for expenditures and financial resources.
- Serve as an executive coach for emerging leaders, developing district‑wide succession planning and capacity building.
- A Master’s degree in Educational Administration or a related field.
- At least five (5) years of teaching experience and two (2) years of education leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of educational philosophy, program objectives, and public school administration.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze student data and implement data‑driven instruction and school reform initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with interpersonal acumen.
- Proficiency with technology to support instruction, data analysis, and scheduling.
- Experience building relationships with students, parents, staff, and district office.
- Experience working with business and industry communities to support student development programs.
- Must hold an Intermediate Administration and Supervisor Certificate (Endorsement 092) issued by the State Board of Education.
