Community Engagement Specialist - Torrington/Litchfield County
The Community Engagement Specialist will serve on an Overdose Response Team alongside law enforcement and/or first responders to provide support at the scene of an overdose or conduct outreach to individuals with a substance use disorder who have recently experienced an overdose. The Specialist will provide ongoing support and assistance in navigating community resources, including community-based harm reduction services, and connecting individuals to treatment and other services that improve their wellbeing.
This position requires travel and work in Litchfield County to conduct community-based outreach and program initiatives.
Full-time, Non-Exempt.
Schedule:
Sunday to Thursday with three 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. shifts and two 12:00 a.m.–8:00 a.m. shifts—exact days to be determined. Pay range begins at $24.00 per hour.
- Preference for experience with underserved and marginalized populations.
- Two years of experience with substance use disorders and/or mental health—required.
- Preference for experience working with law enforcement or first responders.
- Minimum of a valid driver’s license.
- Spanish speaking skills—preferred.
- Travel within Litchfield County required.
- Perform assigned case management activities to assist in achieving desired outcomes.
- Provide recovery coaching and conduct overdose follow-ups as part of the CLEAR outreach program.
- Develop relationships with referral sources and community partners.
- Maintain connections with individuals identified through the CLEAR program as needing services.
- Work with individuals who have a substance use disorder to develop a plan to connect to care, including harm reduction services, medication-assisted treatment, behavioral health care, support groups, and other social service needs.
