POSITION TITLE: Crisis Intervention Clinician

PROGRAM: Mobile Crisis Intervention Services

Mobile Crisis Intervention Services (MCIS) provides home and community-based responses to children and youth experiencing a behavioral or psychiatric crisis. MCIS operates 24/7 across the greater Waterbury, Danbury and Torrington regions (42 town catchment area). Staff may be asked to shift/alter schedules in response to high workflow. Working

Schedule:

Monday through Friday 2PM-10PM.

Responsibilities
  • Provide home and community-based comprehensive crisis evaluations, treatment plans and treatment for children, adolescents and families, including evaluation/assessment; home and community-based services; outreach; case and care management; individual, group, family and intensive brief therapies; and crisis intervention.
  • Assess and implement crisis stabilization plans with immediate tasks for crisis management and connection to clinically indicated resources and services.
  • Deliver community-based outreach and treatment services as defined by the treatment plan and client need in settings such as agency offices, client homes, schools, emergency rooms, shelters, police stations, etc.
  • Complete clinical documentation thoroughly within required timelines and respond to feedback to ensure compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
  • Carry a work cell phone and be available to provide emergency mobile services (in-home, community, emergency room, school-based, etc.) including phone and face-to-face interventions. Cover shifts outside the primary schedule during high demand.
  • Maintain contact and provide follow-up with families, including phone and home visit support.
  • Maintain confidential and other required program documents, including insurance and managed care documentation.
  • Maintain a productive level as determined by the program supervisor.
  • Assist program management or agency leadership with assigned tasks or projects to support communities served.
  • Collaborate as a team member with other professionals and involved parties in cases.
  • Support organization planning, outreach to community schools and agencies, and participation in community events.
  • Participate in supervision with a Team Leader/Clinical Supervisor around clinical care, adherence to MCIS model, skill development, feedback, and professional development tasks.
  • Engage in onboarding, ongoing training, and monthly staff meetings to ensure optimal program functioning.
  • Serve on agency or community committees as directed by program management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Qualifications
  • Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality of agency and client matters; demonstrate clinical knowledge to perform crisis intervention; and display cultural competency for the populations served.
  • Knowledge and expertise in clinical theory and practice related to the populations served; ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with families and professionals (in writing and verbally).
  • Working knowledge of the greater Waterbury, Danbury, or Torrington area is required.
  • Reliable personal vehicle with adequate insurance to provide out-of-office services daily.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish-English) preferred.
  • Education & Experience
  • Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, social work or related human services field with at least a one-year clinical internship working with children and/or adolescents or families is required.
  • Two years’ post-graduate clinical experience with children, adolescents or families is preferred.
  • Experience in family therapy and family systems theory and practice is preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration

    Must hold an active license with the Department of Public Health in Connecticut as a mental health provider at the associate level (e.g., LMSW, LPCA, LMFTA); full CT licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) is preferred. Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
