B. Anthony Project as a volunteer.

As a nonprofit, we rely on the support of volunteers to help us accomplish our mission to promote safety, healing, and growth for all survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and advocate for the autonomy of women and the end of interpersonal violence.

SBAP offers two levels of volunteerism, each with their own requirements.

They include:

Non-Certified Volunteers:
These volunteers help us with Special Events, Development, Fundraising, Administrative and Community Education & Outreach.

We ask that these volunteers have consistent blocks of availability on weekdays during our office hours of 8:30-4:30 and or occasional evening or weekend events. Non-Certified Volunteers will be asked to participate in a Domestic Violence/ Sexual Assault Ambassador training.

Some examples of non-certified opportunities include:

• Pitching in for our special events - Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, etc.
• Helping us with various administrative tasks in our office, such as answering the phones and door and other administrative tasks.
• Providing childcare during support groups or transportation for clients to attend appointments.

Certified Volunteers:
Due to the sensitive nature of the work we do with survivors of trauma and abuse, any volunteer or intern who has direct interaction with SBAP’s clients must complete a mandatory 50-hour certification course on domestic and sexual violence.

Certified volunteers are called on to support our staff and clients in a variety of capacities including:

• Co-facilitating Support Groups
• Outreach and Education
• Assisting in Summer Camp Education Programs

Please note:

• SBAP currently asks for a minimum of a one-year commitment for any of the above certified volunteer roles.
• Volunteers must also complete our volunteer application packet and agree to a detailed background check for the fee of $100 to be paid to The Susan

• We appreciate our clients wish to volunteer for the organization. We ask that previous clients be out of our services for one year prior to volunteering with the organization.
