FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule.

Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but an ability to manage time and meet deadlines is essential. The company is based in Reno, NV and has been in business for over 9 years.

What is an Occupancy Verification?

The purpose of the property inspection is:

• To verify property occupancy.
• To report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.

Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

Contracting is at the county level. You will be responsible for completing all inspections in your county, or co‑acting with a partner if volume requires more than one inspector.

• Complete routine inspections in 5–6 minutes per property.
• Submit the inspection within 4 days after assignment.
• Report general property conditions and make an occupancy determination using industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in a mobile app.
• Travel extensively within the assigned territory during the day.

• Computer with reliable internet access.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus; you will pay your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, which varies by county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you can earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour.

In an urban county you may complete 20–500 inspections per month working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates, higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set minimum of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month.

You can earn more as you become established, increase availability, or cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
