Teller/New Accounts Representative – First State Bank of Wyoming
About the RoleAs a primary contact for bank customers, the Teller/New Accounts Representative is responsible for developing and retaining customer relationships by consistently providing exceptional service. The role includes greeting, listening, engaging, and profiling customers to ascertain their needs and present mutually beneficial financial solutions. The representative maintains high performance standards and seeks support and training as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with a wide variety of customer services including opening and maintaining consumer and business deposit and savings accounts, safe deposit boxes, and e‑banking products in an efficient manner. Prepare associated documentation and scan for record retention purposes.
- Assist customers with opening CDs, IRAs and educate customers about penalties, earnings, etc.
- Use every customer contact as an opportunity to advise customers about additional services or programs that might benefit them.
- Perform teller transactions such as receiving deposits, cashing checks, accepting loan payments, wire transfer requests, filling business change orders, issuing cashier’s checks, cashing Series EE bonds, selling travel cards, processing credit card advance requests, telephone transfers, processing and recording night deposit transactions, processing check orders, issuing debit cards. Possess basic knowledge of deposit products including checking, savings, money market, CDs, and e‑banking.
- Assist customers with safe deposit entries.
- Maintain proficiency in bank products and services to present appropriate solutions.
- Act promptly on customer requests, follow through on commitments, and process service requests such as ATM and debit card disputes. Escalate as necessary.
- Conduct oneself professionally at all times, maintaining a positive appearance and treating everyone with dignity and respect.
- Answer incoming calls, direct calls, take messages and return calls.
- Remain compliant with all applicable banking laws and regulations, following company policies and procedures, management directives, security and operational procedures.
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of the job.
- Keep all customer, colleague and bank information private and confidential.
- Protect the bank and its customers from counterfeit and fraudulent activity.
- Complete required annual compliance training and continuing education.
- Adhere to the bank’s security policy and notify management of any security risk.
- Perform additional duties as requested or assigned.
- Compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance and be able to provide in‑person customer contact as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two to five years of banking experience preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Cash handling experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- High level of customer service and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively throughout the bank and to represent the bank positively to current and potential customers.
- Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment such as copier and fax machine.
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate‑controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.>
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit; use hands in repetitive motions such as finger, grasp, handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and lift or reach with hands and arms. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.
