We are excited to be advertising for a Occupational Therapy Clinical Team Manager
, based within the South Devon and Torbay locality.

This is a part time (0.6wte) fixed term/secondment role for one year due to excitinginternal progression.

You will provide the day to day operational management ofthe provision of care and treatment within the Physical and Sensory clinicalpathway, which consists of a multidisciplinary team of occupational therapists and speech and language therapists.

This post holder will manage effective operational delivery of the service in close collaboration with Occupational Therapy Clinical Specialists, senior clinicians and other service leads.

You will have supervisory skills and may complete specialistclinical work across health and social care in different environments such ashome, schools and clinics.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide effective collaborative leadership and day to day operational management of the clinical team.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of evidence based clinical care .
  • Ensure the service is delivered in partnership with other clinical pathways within the locality, health specialties and partner organisations.
  • Ensure the service is delivered in partnership with children, young people and their parents/ carers, ensuring their active participation is facilitated.
  • In partnership with the Operations Manager, ensure that clinical and non-clinical risks within the pathway are identified and managed effectively.
  • To maintain systems to monitor demand and maintain optimal clinical capacity within the team.
  • Work collaboratively with other leaders (professional, clinical and operational), to maintain excellent clinical standards and safety.
  • Ensure clinical provision in the pathway is delivered to meet key performance targets.
  • Provide supervision, operational management and support to clinicians , to understand and follow HR policies and procedures, ensure staff wellbeing and development and adopt a collaborative approach to engage staff.
  • Attend, participate and chair relevant meetings, adapting communication to meet the needs of others.
  • To deputise for the Operations Manager as required.

Specification Experience
  • Knowledge of the provision of healthcare for children, young people and families within the NHS
  • The ability to form and maintain good working relationships with others in multidisciplinary and inter-agency settings
  • Sound knowledge of health presentations in children and young people and the practice of clinical interventions within area of specialty
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice including NICE guidelines and routine outcome monitoring relating to the designated pathway
  • Knowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk and act accordingly to ensure safety within area of specialty
  • Knowledge of supervision, management and leadership practice, including electronic staff record systems
  • Understanding of the quality, governance and regulatory framework within the NHS. Understanding of the multi-agency systems providing health, education and social care for children and young people
  • Working knowledge of legislation, regulation, policy, guidance and practice relating to safeguarding children
  • Knowledge of information governance standards
  • Experience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice
  • Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies.
  • Experience of delivering a clinical practice within the area of specialty for children with complex health conditions - undertaking specialist assessment and treatment interventions for children and young people with complex health problems; including risk assessment
  • Experience of supervising others and developing positive supervisory relationships with healthcare professionals
  • Experience of safeguarding children and ensuring the safety of young people in partnership with other agencies as appropriate
  • Experience of delivering healthcare within an equalities and human rights framework
  • Experience of initiating, organising and planning inter-agency meetings aimed at setting in place a treatment package tailored to the individual needs of a child/young person
  • Experience in involving service users as active partners in the delivery and or design of services
  • Experience in delivering healthcare in partnership with other organisations
