Works under indirect supervision of the Resource Technician, performing daily activities of the Sterile Processing Department. Responsibilities include decontamination, assembly of sets, sterilization processes, and specialty cart restocking (CPR carts, Disaster Carts, Case Carts, and Specialty carts). Ensure functions are performed with conscious regard to procedures while interacting professionally with other departments. Required knowledge: surgical instrumentation (identification, cleaning, inspecting, testing, packaging, sterilization), operation of mechanical equipment for instrument cleaning and sterilization, infection control practices, preventative measures, and regulatory agencies governing sterile processing practices.
Hours:
11 AM to 7:30 PM.
- High School diploma or equivalent and one to years of previous work-related experience.
- Provisional certification accepted, valid for up to 30 days or upon completion of 400 hours of hands‑on experience.
- Certification from a NJDOH‑recognized body such as CSPDT/HSPA is required.
- Completion and passing grade in an SPD training course or school is acceptable in lieu of experience.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication) are necessary.

St. Joseph’s Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The salary range does not include incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation.
